Microsoft Vice President Paul Maritz says that by the 1999 model year, automobiles might run software based on Microsoft Windows. He suggests people’s cars will remember drivers’ address books and schedules, and even “read” e-mail to the driver while going down the road.
“You’ve got to keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel,” Maritz said, but “it’s well within the realm of current technology.” (Reuters) ...Just what we need: extremely cheap cars that crash and burn without cause or warning.
